AWAKENING THE ARTIST WITHIN 

Dear Sister, 

As a little girl, I was always creating - drawing, painting, making jewelry. Art flowed through me like breath. But then came those familiar voices we all know too well: "Why are you wasting time?" "Shouldn't you be studying?" "Be practical."

So I did what so many of us have done. I packed away the paints. Tucked the sketchbooks in boxes. Became practical. Responsible. Adult. I went to medical school, built a practice, lived the "productive" life everyone expected.

But our creative souls don't stay quiet forever.

As a physician, I've witnessed countless women in my practice - former artists, writers, dancers, creators - who set aside their artistic paths to be "productive members of society." I've seen how this abandonment of creativity affects our bodies, our spirits, our very essence.

What I've learned both personally and professionally is profound: When a woman stops creating, something inside her begins to die. But when she returns to her creative path? Something magnificent awakens.

I finally listened to that persistent, creative whisper.

Several months ago, under the gentle guidance of master artist Ken Oliver, I finally listened to that persistent, creative whisper. I bought new paints. Set up a small corner studio. And that first brush stroke? It felt like coming home.

This is why I'm hosting this intimate workshop alongside my teacher and friend, Ken Oliver.

Because I believe our midlife transition isn't just about hormonal changes - it's about creative awakening.

Because I know what it's like to silence your artistic voice, and more importantly, what it feels like to reclaim it.

Because I've seen the healing that happens when women give themselves permission to create again.
